Barcelona: Gaudí Light and a Seat at the Counter
A design-led weekend built around the basilica's morning colour and an unhurried tapas supper.

Barcelona works best when its architecture and appetite share equal billing. Give Gaudí the clearest hours of the morning, then follow the city downhill toward the old quarters and the sea.
Dinner starts later here. Keep the afternoon loose, take the long way through the streets, and arrive at the counter ready to let the kitchen set the pace.
Day 1 — Stone, glass and evening tapas
09:00 · Do
La Sagrada FamíliaChoose the first timed entry for gentler crowds and warm eastern light through the stained glass. Add tower access when booking if heights appeal.
21:00 · Eat
Bar CañeteAsk for the marble counter, watch the plancha and order in rounds. Seafood and daily specials are the reason to leave room in the schedule.
Day 2 — Look again, more slowly
16:30 · Do
La Sagrada FamíliaA late visit changes the interior entirely as cooler western light reaches the nave; book this instead of morning if colour is the priority.
19:30 · Eat
Bar CañeteGo early for a quieter room and a better chance of counter seats, then walk through the Gothic Quarter after dinner.
Know before you go
- — Timed tickets for La Sagrada Família can sell out, especially for tower access.
- — Lunch and dinner run later than in northern Europe; many kitchens pause between services.
- — Keep phones and wallets secure in crowded areas and on public transport.
