Which month is best for a first luxury trip?
May and September are the two safest bets in the northern hemisphere: long daylight, warm sea, every hotel open, and no August crowds.
How far ahead should I book?
Six to nine months for Christmas and New Year, cherry blossom in Japan and peak safari season. Three months is usually enough elsewhere, and shoulder-season rooms often open up far later.
