Paris rewards restraint. The temptation is to cross the city three times a day; the better weekend picks one bank, walks it slowly, and books one exceptional dinner rather than three good ones.
This itinerary is built around a Rue de Rivoli base, so mornings begin on foot and evenings end without a taxi queue.
Day 1 — Right Bank, quietly
14:00 · Stay
Le MeuriceCheck in early enough to take tea in the Dalí-inspired restaurant before the Tuileries light goes.
16:00 · Do
Musée d'OrsayStart on the top floor with the Impressionists and work downwards — the crowds move the other way.
20:00 · Eat
SeptimeReservations open three weeks ahead at 10:00 Paris time and vanish within minutes.
Day 2 — Slow morning, long lunch
10:00 · Do
Musée d'OrsayIf you missed a wing, Thursday evening opening is the calmest hour in the building.

Le MeuriceLate checkout is worth asking for; the front rooms look straight across to the Musée d'Orsay clock.
Know before you go
- — Most Michelin-level rooms release tables exactly three weeks out — set a calendar reminder.
- — Museums close Mondays or Tuesdays depending on the institution; check before building a day around one.
- — A Navigo Easy card is cheaper than taxis and faster across the river at rush hour.
