Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dubai is a city of timed experiences. Almost everything worth doing has a best hour, and almost everything is unpleasant at the wrong one.

This short itinerary is built around sunset and around avoiding the middle of the day entirely between May and September.

Day 1Up at golden hour

  • Burj Khalifa: At the Top

Book a sunset slot online well ahead — walk-up tickets cost far more and rarely include the best times.

Day 2Early out, late back

  • Burj Khalifa: At the Top

The morning haze often clears by mid-morning; a second, cheaper daytime slot gives a very different view of the coastline.

Know before you go

  • Summer daytime heat is genuinely hazardous; plan outdoor time before nine or after six.
  • Dress modestly in malls and public buildings — shoulders and knees covered.
  • Fridays start late for many venues; check opening hours rather than assuming.
