There is a version of New York where the restaurants are the itinerary and everything else fits around them. It is, honestly, the better version.
Book the two dinners first, then fill the daylight in whatever neighbourhood they leave you in.
Day 1 — Downtown, then uptown briefly
14:00 · Stay
The Greenwich HotelThe courtyard is the quietest room in Tribeca; check in and stay put for an hour.
19:00 · Eat
Gramercy TavernThe front tavern room takes walk-ins at the bar — often a better seat than the dining room.
Day 2 — One museum, one long dinner
10:00 · Do
The Metropolitan Museum of ArtTwo wings, no more. Arrive at opening and leave before the midday crowd builds.
20:00 · Eat
Gramercy TavernIf the first night was the bar, book the dining room for the second — it is a different meal.
